Today is the Feast of Persephone, the Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld.  Persephone, a Greek goddess known in her childhood by the name Kore (or Cora, meaning young maiden), was the only child of the union of her overprotective mother Demeter (Goddess of the Bountiful Harvest) and Zeus, the mighty King of the Olympians.  The Goddess Persephone was born when Demeter was Zeus's lover, long before his marriage to the Great Goddess Hera.  By all accounts  Persephone had an idyllic childhood, raised by her nurturing mother and played with her father's other daughters, the Greek goddesses Athena and Aphrodite.  Always a cheerful and compliant child, the little goddess Persephone was a parent's dream until she hit puberty and discovered sex. Demeter tried to control her but you know the rest from the story .  Not that the goddess Persephone sloughed off any of her responsibilities as the Queen of the ...

Fall has comes the Goddess Persephone leaves the Earth to join her husband King Hades in the Underworld. Demeter, Persephone's overprotective mother, weep for her daughter creating the season winter. How this begun? In ancient time the world experience year-round of spring and summer and people never have to worry about starved death. Demeter, Goddess of the Agriculture and Fertility, reign over the green earth. She became lonely and wanted a child so she went to King Zeus. Zeus give her a child named Persephone this was before Zeus married Hera. Persephone was a wild child and with two parents that control the order of the universe she wanted to rebel. The more Demeter try to control her the more Persephone rebel. One day Persephone ran away from home she had enough of Demeter's nagging her. She went to Sicily there she plan want to do next Persephone made camp near a stream and a field of flower. Meanwhile Hades visited the earth for annual report on Mount Olympus...

Happy Halloween to everybody.  Meet the Queen of the Night the Great Goddess Hecate. Myth #1 She is a crone stirring a cauldron, Myth #2 Her people (Witches) are evil. And Myth #3 Hecate and the witches cast evil spells. The truth is Witches are NOT evil nor due they cast spells to hurt people. Hecate is a triple goddess-in-one mean She is the Maiden, Mother, and Crone at once see past, present, and future events. To the Story of Hecate: After the War with the Titans. the Original Olympians punished their enemies the Titans who oppose them to Tartarus. A few Titans, however, were spared from being eternal punish due to the fact they refusal to fight the Original Olympians. Hecate was one of these few Titans. After the war She was able to keep her authority over the earth, sky and sea (although her authority in these realms are inferior to the Olympians especially Zeus's). Lord of the Underworld  Good Counselor In the spirit of Halloween, I decided to write an article about Lord Hades. Due to the fact that Halloween deal with ghouls, ghost, devils, and other demonic creatures.  At the end of the Titan War, the brothers Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades decided to divided the universe by playing lots. Poseidon won the seas, Zeus won the heavens and Hades won the Underworld.  This suit Hades just fine. To some he may seem somber, grim god but he really tried to fair and honest god. Being the eldest god and having to live with his siblings's argue over petty things and scheme can anyone wants to be a lone.  Hades spent little time with his Olympian siblings, preferring instead to withdraw to his own space and to mind his own business. Unlike his brother Poseidon, Hades has FULL CONTROL of the Underworld. Most of the gods stay clear of Underworld and it ruler Hades. Not even Zeus interferes with the business of the Underworld ...
