To end Women's month with the one of the greatest superheroines (one of my favorite) named Wonder Woman.Wonder Woman is a superhero from DC comics who has her own series as well as being a regular member of the Justice League, she is an Amazon princess who fights crime with aid from her bulletproof wristbands, magical lasso and superhuman-strength. Molded from clay by her mother, Queen Hippolyta, Princess Diana was bestowed with powers and abilities from the Greek gods and goddesses, and trained by her fellow Amazons on the paradise island, Themyscira, to use her powers carefully - even though Princess Diana bested them in battle. Born circa 1508 B.C., Pharaoh Hatshepsut reigned over Egypt for more than 20 years. She served as queen alongside her husband, Thutmose II, but after his death claimed the role of pharaoh while acting as regent to her nephew, Thutmose III. She reigned peaceably, building temples and monuments, resulting in the flourish of Egypt. After her death, Thutmose III erased her inscriptions and tried to eradicate her memory. Early Life The only child born to the Egyptian king Thutmose I by his principal wife and queen, Ahmose, Hatshepsut was expected to be queen. After the death of her father at age 12, Hatshepsut married her half-brother Thutmose II, whose mother was a lesser wife – a common practice meant to ensure the purity of the royal bloodline. During the reign of Thutmose II, Hatshepsut assumed the traditional role of queen and principal wife. Gaia Mother Earth Mother of All Great Prophetess First Goddess of Fertility Gaia means land or earth and fittingly. Gaia is the Goddess of Earth in ancient classical mythology. She is the spiritual embodiment of the earth. Gaia is often referred to as the Mother of All or the Great Mother goddess, since she is the primeval being from which all other beings sprang forth. According to Greek mythology Gaia existed at the dawn of creation and came into being from chaos. Gaia is considered  the first Goddess of Fertility, evidently because she is quite fertile. Gaia's first creation was the Heavens ... she named him Ouranos (Uranus). Gaia gave birth to Ouranos to cover herself on all sides and to be her equal in all ways. Ouranos proved to be a difficult son ... he was devious and sometimes dangerous. Lilith  Goddess of Woman’s Equality The First Feminist "Male and female he created them," proclaims Genesis in its first version of humanity's creation. But the Bible later changes its mind, explaining the creation of woman as God's afterthought. Jewish tradition outside the Bible understood the difference: there was a female created simultaneously with Adam, and her name was Lilith.  February is the month that I am writing about love and sex in the ancient world. The first story is about mother's love for her children . "I am Nut, and I have come so that I may enfold and protect you from all things evil." The ancient Egyptians celebrated this time of year as the Feast of the Goddess Nut, whose birthday falls on February 2 (Gregorian calendar). According to the Book of the Dead, Nut was seen as a mother-figure to the sun god Ra, who at sunrise was known as Khepera and took the form of a scarab beetle. Nut also spelled Nuit or Newet) was the Goddess of the Sky in the Ennead of Egyptian mythology. The Goddess Nut protected the earth, which she and Geb encompassed, against the chaos and darkness above her. Nut was married to Ra,  the God of the Sun and Ruler of the Gods.
